Went to the dentist, teeth are not broken. Everything looks fine and is either very minor damage from the fall or is from my retainer (looseness around the roots; my teeth were already shifting so I’m going to say it’s from that). Seriously, thank goodness for my mouthguard.
Stitches are coming out Thursday, and we’ll see if I need to get a tetanus shot. (The warehouse is pretty gnarly — full of old dust and heavy metals and who knows what else.)
I didn’t look in the mirror until I had a bandage on it at the ER, so I don’t know how bad it actually was. It looks like it’s mostly on the underside of my chin, so the scar won’t be that visible unless you’re looking up under my jaw.
At the very least I now have the reputation of being cool-headed and tough during a crisis. I remembered that I’ve paid people to put needles in my face before (acupuncture), so getting a shot and then stitches was really not that big of a deal. I closed my eyes and went to the same mental place I go for acupuncture or difficult dental work, and it was fine.
Also, I need to get new wristguards, probably, but my white scrimmage shirt is spotless.
